Still praying Health

For families in hospital corridors

Thinking tonight of everyone reading this from a hospital corridor, or a chair pulled up next to a bed, or a quiet room you weren't expecting to spend the week in. The waiting that happens around illness is its own kind of prayer. You don't have words anymore, just the rhythm of your breath and the beep of a machine and the hand you're holding. That counts. So if that's you: I'm praying for the people you love to be healed if it can be, and for them to be at peace if it can't. I'm praying for the doctors who will see them this week — that they'd be kind, and clear, and right. I'm praying for the small mercies — a familiar nurse, a sandwich a stranger brings, a phone call that lifts the room for ten minutes. And I'm praying for you. Because the people on the chair beside the bed are doing some of the holiest, hardest work in the world. #health #family <!--welcome-anchor-4-->
